The Pointer (1939)

“Mickey” has decided that he is fed up with beans, so takes “Pluto” on a quail hunt. Luckily for the birds, neither he with his shotgun nor his hopeless hunting dog could catch one if it had concrete wings, but as they go deeper into the woods an altogether more menacing threat begins to stalk the mouse and his companion. As they stealthy moved along I kept expecting some Prokofiev to join in and add a little extra jolly peril to these proceedings and although I never really got the attraction of this character, nor of Pluto either, this is still quite an amiable ten minutes that features some nicely drawn nature and mischief at play.
