Missing (2009)

This film is based on a true story about a 70-year-old fisherman who kidnapped and murdered four women in 2007 in South Korea. The plot is straightforward and focuses mainly on Pan Gon, a seemingly kind but secretly psychopathic old man, with limited perspectives from the victims. While the characters are well-portrayed, the movie lacks adrenaline-pumping moments and deeper background on both the killer and his victims, making some parts feel flat.

The story’s structure is clear and easy to follow, but the film misses a stronger emotional connection to the victims and a more dominant counterpart to Pan Gon’s character. Important details such as the motivation behind the kidnappings and the role of Pan Gon’s mother feel underdeveloped. More focus on these elements could have made the film more compelling and balanced.

Overall, the movie is intriguing but not suited for family viewing. It highlights an important lesson: always be cautious when interacting with strangers, avoid sharing personal information casually, and remember that appearances can be deceiving. Safety and awareness are crucial, especially in unfamiliar places.
