David Pursley (July 13, 1938 - January 8, 2000) was an American actor, production designer, and director, primarily active in theater. Pursley appeared on Broadway in Anna Karenina, Anything Goes, The Threepenny Opera, Happy End, and toured in Pippin. He directed and/or designed more than 60 productions for theatres in the U.S. and abroad, and guest-directed at theatres in Turkey and New Zealand. Pursley was also a librettist-lyricist and a teacher. Active with Actors' Equity, he served on the LORT Committee and as a 10-year volunteer for the union's VITA program. In 1989 he received an award from the Screen Actors Guild for outstanding contributions to the welfare of the American screen actor. Pursley had a recurring role in the final season of AMC's Remember WENN (1998) as taciturn sound engineer Lester, replacing C.J. Byrnes' character C.J. McHugh.
