Midnight Mass (2021)

The show is so good that it deserved a much better ending.

Erin Greene's monologue at the end is "I am high and I think this is deep" territory. It's just cringe. I liked Riley Flynn's earlier monologue better. Both of them, even in the face of supernatural, somehow manage to make materialist and reductionist arguments.

If philosophy, dogmatism and the human condition interest you do watch it. Don't worry about the ending; "it's the journey and not the destination" and all.

Midnight Mass is a masterclass in atmospheric and ritualistic horror, trading cheap jump scares for a slow-burn descent into religious occultism. Samantha’s presence adds a sophisticated layer to the show's dark themes; she is as captivating as she is formidable, anchoring the series' most tense moments of psychological and spiritual horror.

Ultimately, Midnight Mass is a flawless 10/10 achievement. It respects the intelligence of the viewer while delivering a profound, beautifully shot exploration of human frailty and the occult. For fans of top-tier acting and serious, high-stakes horror, this series is an absolute essential.
