I did quite like the style of the exaggerated human bodies here in this short Icelandic feature, but otherwise it seemed content to relish in stereotypes of coupledom that don’t really engage. From what I could see, there are half a dozen families involved and for ten minutes we follow the routine of their daily lives. There’s the kid who can’t stop gaming, the woman who can’t stop drinking, the gent who likes his food and an elderly woman - possibly the most fulfilled of all - who has some fun with Proust and then with her husband who has spent most of the day clearing a path through the snow, certain in the knowledge that he’ll have to do it all again next day. It does have it’s moments, but for the most part the lack of narration leaves us with them merely repeating the word “yes” (or it’s variations) with various inflexions as their lives roll along repetitiously. It’s quirky to look at, but isn’t great.
